Music and lyrics
This track serves as a dramatic end to Idemo dalje and is based on a true event in World War 2. It tells the story of the news of Slavko JankoviÄ's death to the commander of his brigade, Marko ÄuÄuz. Marko "Markica" ÄuÄuz (mistranscribed as "MarkiÄa ÄuÄuz" in some transcriptions online) was a member of the Chetnik Dinara Division and the commander of the Å ator brigade of the "Gavrilo Princip" Bosnian Corps. He was stationed in Bosansko Grahovo. Peulja and Crni Lug are mentioned which are places within Bosansko Grahovo, though it is unknown if the historical ÄuÄuz was ever stationed in the latter. The line "sve do Dalmacije" in which the Dalmatia region is mentioned is in reference to the region where Dinara Division mainly operated in.
The use of "ptiÄa" rather than "ptica" emphasizes how devastating the loss of JankoviÄ is as the former is used to refer to a young bird or fledgling and can be used to refer to a young person and the latter is used as a general term for a bird.[3] In the beginning of the following verse, the narrator says that there was no other machine gunner like him in any part of the region, which adds to this interpretation. To further set the tone, the song uses the 2/4 time signature that is typically used in marches. The use of brass as the lead instrument instead of the typical accordion further emphasizes this march theme and gives it a solemn tone to convey the feeling of ÄuÄuz mourning over his fallen comrade.
