Background
The 16th Krajina Motorized Brigade was a unit of the Army of Republika Srpska and saw combat from 1991 up until the end of the war in 1995. The unit is most famous for its participation in the Bosnian War and Operation Corridor 92. Sometime during the war an orchestra of the unit would form, but it is only known that they released one cassette and were briefly featured in the Hiljadu ratnih dana Å esnaeste documentary as a musical act, both in 1994.
Release
Orkestar šesnaesta was released some time in 1994 by Glas srpski Banja Luka. There is only one known variant of the tape: a translucent black tiled cassette. All known copies have great audio quality.
Both "Å esnaesta" songs are featured on the Hiljadu ratnih dana Å esnaeste VHS. The A1 track is featured as a music video where the orchestra is seen on grass in front of trees. One accordion player, two guitarists, one bassist, a drummer and a keyboard player are seen behind the singer. The band appears rarely, as most of the video is war footage of commanders, soliders and combat. An alternative version of the B1 track is heard at the beginning of the VHS. Here, Velimir Å koriÄ sings the song while performing it with an acoustic guitar. The video here also mostly comprises of footage of soldiers clearing buildings, walking through the woods and trenches and tanks, as well as a digital map of northern Republika Srpska showing what cities the 16th Krajina Motorized Brigade fought in.
