Music and lyrics
The song is an adapted version of the song, "Na obali Drine". Originally written by Rade JovanoviÄ and composed by Zaim ImamoviÄ, the song was initially released on a single in 1960. Performed by Mile PetroviÄ and Zaim ImamoviÄ, it was originally about a Partisan mother mourning the loss of her son who was killed and thrown in the Drina. This reworked changes the mom from being Partisan to Serbian. This version explicitly states that the son was shot and killed by UstaÅ¡a forces and was thrown into the river. The song is also about two minutes longer.
