"Amanet majci" (Serbian Cyrillic: "Аманет мајци", lit. "Will to Mother") is a song written and performed by Branko Marinković - Lalić.
Music and lyrics
The song is a message to the speaker's mother if he were to die on the battlefield. The word "amanet" is a Turkish loan word, deriving from "emanet", which means a trust (i.e. a will or inheritance).[1][2][3] Within the context of the song, it is a will that the mother would fulfill if the speaker were to die on the battlefield. Although the song is short with two verses, the overall tone is bittersweet.
